The Friends of Trempealeau Refuge, Inc. is committed to providing an independent citizen voice for the protection, conservation, and enhancement of fish and wildlife and their habitats at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.  The Friends will promote public awareness and appreciation of the Refuge; foster thoughtful, appropriate, and compatible public use and enjoyment of Refuge lands; and support environmental education and interpretation programs that benefit citizens of all ages and abilities. The Friends of Trempealeau Refuge, Inc. is dedicated to building an independent organization, formed and managed by local citizens that:

  • Are informed of and support the mission, vision, and goals of Trempealeau NWR and the National Wildlife Refuge System;

  • Provide a positive community influence and act as a doorway to the public to address issues related to the well-being of Refuge resources;

  • Are independent advocates working to protect the natural resources of the Refuge;

  • Strive to influence support for the Refuge and the National Wildlife Refuge overall;

  • Cooperate with other Friends organizations locally, regionally, and nationally, and participate whenever possible in collaborative programs with these groups as well as with the National Wildlife Refuge Association;

  • Strive to maintain a relationship of cooperation and mutual respect with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service personnel;

  • Maintains a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to produce and make available to Refuge visitors by placement, sale of free distribution of appropriate interpretive and educational books, leaflets, posters, maps and related public use facilities to increase visitor understanding of natural history and the environment; and

  • Adhere to high ethical standards of behavior applicable to private nonprofit charitable organizations and adhere to all reporting requirements and other regulations as required by state and federal law.
